volcanoes (Mountain Karisimbi) which is 4,507m. Mountain Karisimbi is one of
the 5 Virunga volcanoes found in volcanoes national park. Other Virunga
volcanoes in volcanoes national park are Mount Muhabura, Mount Sabyingo, Mount
Gahinga, and Mount Bisoke.
The
2 days Mount Karisimbi hike will take you to the volcanoes national park
located in the northwestern part of Rwanda in the Musanze district. The hike to
the summit of Mountain Karisimbi is one of the most amazing activities tourists
can do while in volcanoes national park Rwanda as the journey to the top gives
you beautiful views of the beautiful scenery, different mountain animals,
birds, surrounding mountains, and the crater lake.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer to volcanoes national
park and hike
On
the first day of your 2 days hike to the summit of Mount Karisimbi, you will be
picked up by our English-speaking guide early in the morning at any location
you will be let it be the airport or the hotel. The driver-guide will brief you
about the safari and then you will start on your journey to the northwestern
part of Rwanda to volcanoes national park where Mountain Karisimbi is found.
On
your journey to volcanoes, you will enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding
hilly areas, see a number of plantations, lakes, rivers, and smiling local
people among others. On reaching volcanoes national park, you will be welcomed
to the park and you will be taken for the briefing where rangers will teach you
about the rules and regulations of hiking Mountain Karisimbi after which you
will get your walking sticks and start on your hike.
While
hiking to the summit of Mountain Karisimbi, you will pass through different
hiking trails with opportunities of meeting different park animals such as
buffaloes, elephants, endangered golden monkeys, bush pigs, duikers, giant
forest hogs, several primates, birds, and you will pass through different
vegetation covers. On the first day of hiking mountain Karisimbi, you will stop
at 3700m for an overnight stay and dinner.

Day 2: Get to the summit, descend and
return to Kigali
On
the second day of 2 days Mount Karisimbi hike, you will wake up early morning
and have breakfast at the campsites prepared by hired chefs after which you
will start on your final journey to the summit of Mountain Karisimbi. You will
hike through different sections such as thick vegetation cover, ridges, bamboo
trees, calderas, and much more.
Once
you get to the summit of Mountain Karisimbi, you will have spectacular views of
the mountain and the surrounding mountains like Muhabura, Nyamuragira, Bisoke,
and Nyiragongo, with views of the surrounding communities, Muntango crater, and
much more. After all these, you will descend back to the starting point with
chances of seeing more of the park wildlife on your way, and on reaching the
starting point, you will find your ranger guide ready to drive you for lunch
after which you will start your journey to Kigali city.
