CONGO NILE TRAILS HIKE
Located in the western province of Rwanda, a country of
thousand hills, The Congo Nile Trail is a 227 km trail along Lake Kivu forming the Kivu belt as it extends from Rubavu, continues through Rutsiro, then Karongi,
up to Nyamasheke and ends at Rusizi District. The 3-day walk will give you a
memorable experience and most importantly get to know the beauty of Rwanda
including Coffee, Banana plantations, and fishing experience, and learn more about
the source of the Nile River.
ITINERARY
Day 1
Gisenyi (Brasserie) to Cyimbiri
Starting at 7:00 AM, we take a direction to Cyimbiri village,
a trip that normally takes between 6 to 7 hours of walking. On our way, you will
enjoy the beauty of Lake Kivu, especially the landscapes, islands and not forgetting
the agricultural activities including banana plantations, coffee, beans, and
cassava)
Duration: 7 hour
Day 2
Cyimbiri to Kinunu
This morning, you will walk for 2 hours up to the nearby
fishermen's village called Nkora where you will meet the local community drying and
selling coffee. You will proceed to Kinunu basecamp and on your way, you will be enjoying good voices of birds,
fishing activities, landscape, banana, and coffee plantations. Overnight at
Kinunu Guest House
Duration: 5 hour
Day 3 Kinunu to Congo Nile
Stop At: Lake Kivu
Starting in the morning, you will walk for 8 hours up to Bumba
basecamp, on your way, you will enjoy
the landscapes and scenery around Lake Kivu, fishing activities, and
agricultural activities that include banana and coffee plantations without
forgetting cassava and beans. Proceed to Kibuye, Gisenyi, or Kigali
